Transplant was one of the Canadian acquisitions for NBC to manage the pandemic scheduling. NBC has acquired Transplant Season 2, but what else do we know so far?

Canada’s CTV quickly renewed its medical drama for a second season. We just had to wait and see how the live ratings would be for it on NBC, and by the finale, NBC was happy with the performance.

That means we get more of this drama that focuses on a Syrian refugee who is an extremely talented doctor but has to learn the Canadian system.

So far, we know very little about the second season, but we do know that Transplant Season 2 is filming. Updates will come to this post as they happen, so make sure you bookmark it!

Transplant Season 2 premiere date

Filming for the second season began in February 2021. It was slightly delayed due to the pandemic, and we’re probably not going to see the show premiere in Canada until fall 2021 at the earliest.

That’s going to push things back for NBC. It’s possible that the show will be used as a summer replacement show, which tends to be the case for acquisitions. We’re potentially looking at summer 2022 for the new season on NBC.

Transplant Season 2 cast

Most of the cast is set to return. We’ll definitely see the following:

  • Hamza Haq as Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed
  • Laurence Leboeuf as Dr. Magalie “Mags” Leblanc
  • Ayisha Issa as Dr. June Curtis
  • Jim Watson as Dr. Theo Hunter
  • Sirena Gulamgaus as Amira Hamed
  • Linda E. Smith as Dr. Wendy Atwater

We’ll also get to see Torri Higginson return as Claire Malone. She’s been upped to series regular on the series, which is about time!

The one actor we’re concerned about is John Hannah. At the end of the first season, Dr. Jed Bishop suffered a serious stroke. Is it possible that his character was only around for the first season?

Transplant Season 2 trailer

There isn’t a trailer for the season just yet, which isn’t all that surprising. The show hasn’t finished filming, and we’re probably not going to see a trailer until much closer to the premiere date, whenever that may be.

We’ll be sure the share the trailer as soon as it’s available.

Transplant Season 2 synopsis

The season will pick up off the back of the first season. The doctors are reeling from the news that Dr. Bishop suffered a serious stroke. At the same time, someone from Bash’s past has turned up, a fellow Syrian refugee who may or may not have a romantic link to Bash.

Of course, there are questions about some of the other characters. Will Bash and Mags take their relationship to the next level? Will June apply for and get the Chief Resident position? What’s going on with Theo and his wife as that didn’t really get resolved.

Transplant is available to stream on Peacock in the U.S. and on the CTV App in Canada.
